Madalyn was born in Weymouth, MA and then raised in Mesa, AZ. Her teaching philosophy emphasizes musicianship and a pure choral sound, and she strives for her students to be adept sight readers and well rounded musicians who learn music through many lenses. She completed her BM in Music Education with an emphasis in Choral K-12 Education in 2014. She has been working in Arlington Public Schools for 2 years now, and began her position as Arlington High School's Choir Director in 2015. She is a talented singer and loves to perform in the community and in her church. She has to say that her favorite composer is her husband Todd Kitchen (shameless plug :) - www.toddkitchen.com), but she loves to listen to the choral music of Ralph Vaughan Williams, Johannes Brahms, Gabriel Faure and Giovanni Pierluigi da Palestrina, and of the modern choral idiom she enjoys Morten Lauridsen. Outside her musical interests, she loves to sew and craft, and has a great love for traveling!
